Jude 4

Text

For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Observation/ Meaning

Jude then goes on to explain why that something else is so important. It is because certain people crept in unnoticed. What do they do? They pervert the grace of our God and deny our Lord and Master Jesus Christ as their only Master. It is important to note that one does not have to openly deny Christ in their words, they can deny him in their actions and deeds as well (Titus 1:16).

This is strong language from our beloved brother Jude. The first thing to recognize is that these false teachers have the ability to sneak in unnoticed, that’s why Jude says they crept in unnoticed.

We can rest assured that our just God will carry out the necessary justice in His own time, since He has already condemned them.

Application

Knowing that there are false teachers around, how do you feel?

My Reflection:

“It scares me a little to think about this truth, because what if, just what if, my pastor is one of those Jude mentions? Certainly, it is possible, and I thank God that by His Grace, he is making this warning, like a traffic light, to make sure I am alert and watchful as I seek to grow in Him. It should not be my pastor that I follow, but our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. For this reason Christ came, to save us from condemnation.”

How about you?

I utilize the COMA method in my Bible Studies.
