Jude 17-18

But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.”

Observation/ Meaning

Jude then exhorts believers on how to resist false teachers after warning them against them. Jude wants us to remember the predictions of the apostles and he quotes from 2Peter 3:3. It is helpful to remember that Peter himself did not come up with this warning. Peter, during Jesus’ earthly ministry, must have learnt from Jesus who said in Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

Thus, Peter and Jude were just repeating what Jesus himself had warned us of.

How does remembering these predictions help you and me?

My Reflection:

“Ask Jesus why He tells us these predictions through the apostles, His answer would be “I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am He” (John 13:19). Seeing what is happening around me as being predicted in scripture, my faith grows deeper every day, as does my joy in Christ.

As we see prophecies coming true, the biggest prophecy that has come true is that of Jesus Christ’s incarnation, which was predicted in Genesis 3:15 and in that we rejoice this Christmas.”

How about you?
