Jude 19

It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.

Observation/ Meaning

Jude is clear, the people who cause divisions are not those who stand firm and contend for the faith once and for all delivered to the saints, but the false teachers themselves who are devoid of the Spirit. It will be prudent at this juncture to apply this principle to other spheres in our lives. If we focus on the things of the world rather than on Jesus, our savior, we will cause division and conflict. Think of those conflicts you started or suffered from due to your own or others’ selfishness and worldly desires.

How does your worldliness cause conflict in your life?

My Reflection:

“Jude’s assessment of events around me, and of myself, is accurate. Sometimes, I find myself the source of conflicts or divisions among my friends and family. The fundamental reason is I was worldly in that instance, fixated on my self ambition and pride.

Father, help me be aware of my heart and help me not stray from your word. This Christmas, help me remember what your Son has done on the cross for me. Help me fix my eyes on you and to rejoice in my salvation.”

How about you?

I utilize the COMA method in my Bible Studies.
