Jude 23

save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.

Observation/ Meaning

#4. To save those who might be deceived.

Again, he emphasizes showing mercy even in the midst of saving them from false teachings. Jude also gives the metaphor of “hating even the garment stained by the flesh”, implying that we must avoid being exposed to false teachings even as we save them from the “fire”.

How can we save a friend entrenched in false teaching?

My Reflection:

“I think it is such a privilege for God to want to use us as his hands to reach out to not just the lost but also to those entrenched in false teachings. Scripture is helpful in telling us how – and that is by hearing the Word of Christ. Faith comes to the lost by hearing the word (Rom 10:17), so does knowledge and discernment to those misled by false teachings. This is such an encouraging reminder to preach the good news to those around me, especially in this Christmas season!”

How about you?

I utilize the COMA method in my Bible Studies.
