to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
Jude concludes the reason why Jesus keeps us from stumbling and presents us blameless to God. Why does Jesus do this for us? It is so that all glory goes to God the father who has been in sovereign authority before all time, and now, and forever.
Westminster Confession of Faith states that Man’s primary purpose is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Indeed this is so.
Do you see that the purpose of all that Christ does is to bring Glory to God the Father? Does that change the way you view things?
It is important to understand that all things point to God the Father. God is not here to make our lives better so that we get ahead of our peers. No, it is truly for us to point back to the Father, the giver of all gifts. We often find joy in our gifts and not the giver, and in that I pray that God will help me rejoice in him as my sole source of joy. Christmas is a time to celebrate what Christ came to earth to do – to die for the sins for those who believe in him – to the ultimate glory of the Father.
